1 Night 2 Days Coorg Packages
2 Day Sight Seeing Package in Coorg
Given its proximity to metro cities like Bengaluru, Madikeri and Coorg packages for 2 days are popular weekend getaways. Here are a few sights you must not miss out on during a 2 days trip to Coorg.
We start our tour at the Omkareshwara Temple. This temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. According to local legends, the Shiva Lingam was brought from Kashi and installed here by Lingarajendra II to pacify the ghost of a murdered Brahmin.
After breakfast, the tour moves to the Madikeri Fort. The fort was originally built in mud and later rebuilt in Granite by Tipu Sultan. It contains an Anglican church, a temple, a museum and a prison. Our next stop is Raja’s Tomb. This Indo-Sarcenic monument houses the mortal remains of the Kodava king Doddaveerarajendra and his wife Mahadeviamma, Lingarajendra and their guru, Rudrappa.
Abbey Falls is one of the most popular places to visit in Madikeri. The 21m tall Abbey Falls is surrounded by private coffee and spice plantations. A hanging bridge opposite the waterfall is the ideal place to photograph this natural beauty.
After lunch, the tour continues to Thala Kaveri. At a height of 1,276 m, this is considered the source of the Kaveri River. A temple dedicated to Goddess Kaveramma and a tank that marks the spring where the water flows from are of religious significance.
The Bhagamandaleshwara temple at the confluence of the Kaveri, Kannike and Sujyoti is next on the itinerary. The temple is believed to have been built by the Cholas and boasts of a gabled roof style characteristic of the Kerala style of temple architecture. Bhagamandala is also famous for its honey.
The second day of our Madikeri trip plan for 2 days begins at the Bylukuppa Monastery. Bylukuppa is one of the lesser-known Tibetan towns in India. The monastery houses a number of statues, a temple, library and accommodation for monks.
Breakfast is provided at Hotel Atithi after which the tour moves on to Kaveri Nisarga Dhama. This is a small island in the Kaveri River that is home to many animals and birds. Visitors may enter the water at a few points and enjoy boating and elephant rides. From here we move on to the beautiful Chikley Lake.
The Dubare forest is next on our list of places to visit in Coorg in 2 days. This forest is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River and is best known for its elephant training camp. Today the elephants are retired and only give joy rides to visitors.
Lunch is a typically Udupi meal at a restaurant in Madikeri. The last place on our itinerary is the Raja’s Seat. This was once where the Kodagu rajas watched the setting sun with their wives. Today, it is a beautiful garden with seasonal flowers and artificial fountains. Children can enjoy a toy train ride in the garden.
The tour ends by 6 pm leaving with enough time to relax and walk through the Madikeri town and pick up a few souvenirs.
